International Tibet Network’s 2018 Americas Regional Meeting will take place from 12 – 14 October in Richmond, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
There is absolutely no substitute for face to face meetings to strengthen connections and relationships between everyone working for Tibet in our region. Network Regional Meetings are great opportunities to strategise campaigns, learn new skills, benefit from expert briefings, find campaign partners and recharge batteries.
We are therefore delighted to open registration for the Network’s 8th Americas Regional Meeting, which will take place at the Community Centre of the Tibetan Association of Northern California, at their kind invitation. The meeting will run from 10am on Friday 12 October, until around 1pm on Sunday 14 October 2018.

Accommodation: We realise that many of you have friends or family in the Bay Area, so you may wish to arrange your own accommodation. We are also enquiring as to whether there are members of the Tibetan Community who are willing to host visitors. We have also reserved some twin rooms and a very small number of single rooms at the Hotel Mira Vista in North Berkeley – https://www.hotelmiravista.com/ – which participants can book through us. See costs below.
Venue: The meeting will be held at Dheshik Phuntsokling or Tibetan Association of Northern California located at 5200 Huntington Avenue, Suite 200, Richmond, CA 94804, USA.
Costs: Costs for meals only (for those who prefer to book your own accommodation) – to include two dinners, three lunches and breaks – are currently estimated to be a maximum of US$100. (Breakfast is not included.)
Accommodation costs at the Hotel Mira Vista (including continental breakfast) are:
* Shared room (twin beds): Three nights (Thursday to Saturday inclusive) $65.34/night, totalling US$196. (There is an option for 4 people who would not mind sharing a room that has two double beds; this would reduce the cost to $113 for each person for a three-night stay, but there would have to be 4 people willing to share with each other for this to be an option!)
* Single room: Three nights (Thursday to Saturday inclusive) $120.78/night, totalling $362.

Bursaries: Tibet Network has up to 10 travel bursaries available, each worth US$350 (US$500 is available for those traveling from outside the USA). Please indicate on the Registration Form if you want to apply for a bursary. Those receiving a bursary are asked to attend the whole meeting. Otherwise it’s first-come, first-served, so register soon. Please note that we cannot give more than one bursary to any single Group.
Agenda: We want to hear what you would like to see on the Agenda. We are very keen to get a short list of campaign priorities agreed ahead of the meeting, so that we spend our time talking about issues that we know Groups are planning to work on! We will also continue our collaborative workshops and arrange training sessions that meet your needs, so please tell us what your Group would find most useful. A rough outline agenda is here.
Preparation: We request all participating Groups to complete a short questionnaire about their recent and future campaign activities in advance of the meeting. Travel: The nearest international airports are Oakland and San Francisco. By public transport, Oakland is – depending on traffic – between 20-50 minutes away, and San Francisco within 30-80 minutes. We shall provide more information on travel soon.
