Free Tibet started life in 1987 when we were named Tibet Support Group UK. We renamed ourselves Free Tibet Campaign in 1996 and made one further name change in 2008, becoming Free Tibet.

We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation. We are independent of all governments (including the Central Tibetan Administration) and funded entirely by our supporters from all over the world.
Our vision is a free Tibet in which Tibetans are able to determine their own future and the human rights of all are respected.

We campaign for an end to China’s occupation of Tibet and for international recognition of Tibetans’ right to freedom.

We mobilize active support for the Tibetan cause, champion human rights and challenge those whose actions sustain the occupation.

We are entirely funded by our supporters across the world.
